A Bribe Can Corrupt Your Good Heart

You cannot always get your way around things by giving bribes to people. On the other hand, if what you intend to do with the bribe fails, the one you bribed to help you will also get into trouble when caught. Can you remain bent on maintaining your integrity before God and not accept using shortcuts to get things done?

Make No Provisions for the Flesh

You must be intentional about sealing every area of your life with Christ, so you give no space to the enemy. Sometimes, side gigs to make you more busy solve this issue. But the ultimate solution is putting on Christ. Once you forget to do that, you give the devil space to exploit your time.

Taking Bribes Can Destroy Your Focus

The Bible says that the moment Judas Iscariot took that thirty pieces of silver, he focused on seeking an opportunity to betray Jesus (see Matthew 26:16). So, anytime he went to join the team, his mind shifted from listening to Jesus’ teachings. That implies taking bribes can destroy your focus. If you are a team member in an organisation reading this, don’t join anybody within the organisation to do something evil; otherwise, it’ll affect you later in life.

Do Not Trust in Extortion

While anybody can get rich by extorting money from others and stealing, you, a child of God, are not to trust it. Why? Because people who practice those things believe that that is a sure way to get rich, which is a fallacy.

Regret Your Old Way of Living

When you are in Christ, you are a new creation. That means that you have become a totally changed person. To stay that way, you must regret your old way of living. If you do not regret your old way of living, you risk falling back into sin and missing out on the transformation Christ offers.

Discretion Will Protect You

In Proverbs 2:11, the Bible says that discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. In other words, paying attention to what you must consciously choose to see and not to see will prevent you from encountering bad things that have the potential of even dampening your spirit.

Fear the Lord and Shun Evil

There is something you need to have if you are to fear the Lord and shun evil. It is called wisdom. That is why Proverbs 14:16 tells us that “the wise fear the Lord and shun evil…”. If you lack wisdom, ask the Lord. He will give it to you liberally (see James 1:5) because He knows when His wisdom is abundant in your life, you will live in reverence for Him, and your life will be beautiful.
