[42] “And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.” – Matthew 10:42 (NKJV)
In Africa, many families hate it when any child aspires to be in ministry, especially full-time. Why? Because many of our forefathers were taught that ministers are to embrace mediocrity and generally live poor lives. Today, many people see it as a taboo for churches to take multiple offerings in the ministry. Some people even desist from going to church on days they don’t have money for offering. How sad!
Now, I want to make something clear. God didn’t call anybody to make a name for oneself or to pursue selfish ends. Neither did He call anybody merely to make money. No! He called His servants to make a godly impact on this perverse generation. But that comes with benefits.
Do you work for nothing? Of course not. Right? So the minister who spends hours doing God’s work each day, which many congregants or audiences don’t see, deserves to be well cared for. Some ministries pay their pastors well. Others don’t. Others also give their pastors meagre salaries. Statistics even say that many preachers are underpaid. What a tragedy!
If you’re a preacher reading this, don’t give up on God’s call no matter how difficult life may be at the moment. God is faithful, and He will lift you in His due time. However, if you are a Christian without serving in the ministry and you are reading this, know that you will not lose your reward for supporting God’s servants. Whenever you have the opportunity, contribute to a larger divine vision monetarily. Your seed will go ahead to impact others, and you’ll additionally get a heavenly reward for your generosity.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your divine provision in my life. I continue to believe in You to supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory. Amen!
