[34] “Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. [35] And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. [36] Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” – John 8:34-36 (NKJV)
Deep within each person is a desire for freedom. And freedom, in this context, isn’t merely about moving wherever you want but also living freely without being bound by any desire to do something evil. Ask those who’re bound to porn and fornication, and they’ll tell you that they really desire to stop. But due to certain life circumstances, they don’t want to. If you’re reading this and you’re one of such people I’m speaking about, I want you to know that there is hope in Christ for you.
Jesus said anybody who commits sin is a slave of sin. No wonder such people find it difficult to stop what they are doing even though it is ruining their lives. But for such people, real freedom is in Christ alone. That is why Jesus said, “… if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” So now, if you want to be free in order to live a godly life, you don’t need self-help books or strategies. You need Christ! And how do you receive Christ? By confessing Him as Lord and personal saviour (see Romans 10:9).
Only Jesus can give you a meaningful life. Without Him as Lord and Saviour in your life, your life cannot be like how He created you to live. Stick to His principles in His Word. He is with you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for my life. I pray that I surrender every part of my life to Your leadership. Be my guide and counsellor. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
