The Pathway To Divine Exaltation

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” — I Peter 5:6 - 7 NKJV

It’s natural for everyone to desire a better life with good living conditions. However, in many cases, not all people get everything they desire. Some struggle, even in their lowly stages of life, coupled with financial constraints. But I want to encourage you today that God hasn’t purposed your life to be full of struggles. No! He wants to lift you up, but fortunately, He has shown us how He does it, just that He doesn’t tell us the time He’ll do it.

According to 1 Peter 5:6-7, the pathway to divine exaltation is humility. When you humble yourself before the Lord, He will exalt you. However, two questions arise from this Truth. They are:

  1. How can we humble ourselves before God?
  2. When will God exalt us when we humble ourselves under His mighty hand?

Well, I’m going to answer these questions one after the other.

For the first one, the answer is in 1 Peter 5:7. Right after the Bible says “humble yourselves before the Lord…”, it’s written in the next verse that “… casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” So in simple terms, you can humble yourself before the Lord by casting all your care upon Him. In other words, intentionally channel every mental burden in your mind from life struggles and desires that battle within you unto the Lord.

God exalts those who humble themselves under His mighty hand according to His own timetable.

God isn’t a finite container that becomes full when filled. No! Even if all people in the world cast their cares upon Him, He has exceeding capacity to bear it and solve everyone’s problems. Yes, you desire to be where you dreamed about; but can you wait on God and not get anxious and discomforted by your current position? Believe that God has mapped your life so well that He knows where you are isn’t a mistake.

For the second question, it’s evident in the Bible that God exalts those who humble themselves under His mighty hand according to His own timetable. And in many cases, this is where our patience gets tested intensely. Think about God giving young Joseph two dreams to rule His own family, yet he was sold into slavery and later got stuck in a dungeon because of a false accusation.

While waiting on God, learn to serve diligently and selflessly wherever you are.

I want to encourage you that God knows all the wickedness people do against you. He knows all the struggles you faced in your past, may be going through now and may endure in times to come. He has purposed each experience in life to contribute massively to building your character so that you can fit into the high position He has planned for you to be.

Your divine gift is a solution to someone’s problem.

While waiting on God, learn to serve diligently and selflessly wherever you are. For it’s the same thing Joseph did that earned him a recommendation to Pharaoh. Your divine gift is a solution to someone’s problem. Before kings will come and seek what you have, you must build it to the level that it will be effective and benefit many others.

God is just. He will remember you. Lean on Him.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for showing me in Your Word that the pathway to divine exaltation is humility. Teach me how to cast all my care upon You and not worry about life because You are faithful to take care of me, even if I don’t like where I am currently. Amen!
