“[6]Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: [7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” - 1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV
Humility is the hallmark of every person God exalts. Many of us (Christians) believe God humbles people. Yes. That’s true and is even found in the Bible (2 Corinthians 12:21). However, it’s also written in the same Bible that it is possible for you, a child of God, to humble yourself (Matthew 23:12, 1 Peter 5:6).
The question is, how can we humble ourselves before God? I’m glad the Word answers this question in 1 Peter 5:6-7. As a Christian, you can humble yourself before God by casting all your care (not “cares”) upon Him. So it’s not really about serving Him as many people think.
The things people care about vary from person to person. Some people care about their finances. Others care about their relationships and marriages, some about the work of God, and yet still, others about the basic necessities of life. All these aren’t bad. But the Bible says all of them combined must be cast (laid) upon God. When you do that, you’ll cease depending on yourself to provide all these things.
God didn’t bring you here to bear unnecessary burdens. Mind the Father’s business, and He’ll take care of all of them. Find a way of glorifying Christ in all that you do.
You’re a blessing.
