[1] “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, [2] in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,” – Ephesians 2:1-2 (NKJV)
I haven’t entered the mortuary before (as of this writing), but I have passed in front of it multiple times. When you see a dead body, it doesn’t matter what people do; it is just unresponsive. It can be hit on the ground as often as possible, but it will never respond. Such is the life of a dead person. Nothing called “life” tickles him. So, when the Bible says you were dead in your trespasses and sins, guess what it means? It meant that while you didn’t know God, the consciousness even to convict yourself that the actions you are doing are sinful isn’t even part of your thoughts. That explains why evil is constantly going on in this generation without mercy.
Every single day, people kill others. Some businessmen also cheat others in the marketplace, using lies to sell poor-quality products to naive customers. Others also dupe people and steal their hard-earned money without even feeling guilty. What a tragedy! However, despite all these things happening in this generation, God is still on a mission to turn people unto righteousness, irrespective of what they have done in times past. How? By quickening them through the Spirit when they get saved.
Dear minister of God, don’t relent in preaching the gospel, for the salvation of souls brings joy in heaven. Moreover, don’t judge unbelievers for what they do because they are dead in their trespasses and sins. It is Christ who saves. Be encouraged to keep doing the work of the ministry.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your immense love and care in my life. Quicken those who are dead in trespasses and sins by strategically sending Your servants to preach the gospel in every possible medium. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
