“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
25th December is always a memorable day each year. Why? Because it’s the day the whole world gets to hear that Jesus came into the world. It is not the exact day Jesus was born. But for sure, the day is blessed.
As I went through the Bible, I came across Isaiah 9:6, where some powerful statements had been written about Jesus. The first two are my emphasis in this devotional.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given…”.
According to this verse, Jesus was born unto us as a child. But when He matured in stature, He was given unto us as a Son. That is why Jesus never began His ministry until He turned thirty. And that means a lot of lessons to upcoming ministers in Christ. You’ll always have humble beginnings. You’ll start from somewhere. However, you should be determined not to remain where you started.
I saw a post online months ago that referred to the fact that whatever you start will be bad on day one. But it’ll become better as you practise it consistently.
In this season of Christmas, reflect on how Jesus subjected Himself willingly to His parents (see Luke 2:51) to get tutored and trained until it was time to step into the fullness of His calling. Never hate going through the process; for without it, you’ll not see God’s promises in full manifestation.
Love God. Love Jesus. Be subject to training, and keep developing yourself in the Lord. God will perfect everything concerning His promises in your life. Merry Christmas.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Lord, in this season of Christmas, help me to reflect on the humility of Your Son. Give me the right tutors who’ll help me become all that You created me to be. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
