Children Of The Promise

“In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” - Romans 9:8 NIV

When God gave a promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3, He later came to tell him that this promise will come to pass through his seed (Galatians 3:16). Now, Abraham had more than one child [in fact, all his life, he had about eight children— Isaac, Ishmael, and six other ones with Keturah (Genesis 25:1-2)]. But the promise was to happen through Isaac.

When you check the genealogy of Jesus Christ, you’d not see any child of Abraham except Isaac. That means, that out of Isaac’s descendants came the earthly parents of Jesus. Since Galatians 3:16 says Christ is the Seed God was referring to when He promised Abraham, then it means all Christians are children of the promise of God to Abraham. Why?—Because Christ lives in us (believers in Christ), making God’s seed remain in us.

Do you think you’re not part of the Abrahamic blessings? Then repent from that thought. If you’re born again, you are God’s child regardless of race, skin colour, or nationality. Hence, you’ve become a part of the children of the promise of God. Partake in the blessings of Abraham.

You’re a blessing.
