[24] “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” – Luke 9:24 (NKJV)
Take a seed, for instance. What does it do if you put it in the ground at a suitable place? It sprouts up. Right? But before it sprouts up and germinates, it must die in the ground, without anybody seeing, so the new plant will emerge. In the kingdom of God, that principle is highly emphasised. That is, you cannot make the maximum impact on your generation if you don’t die completely to self. That is why Jesus said in John 12:24-25 (NKJV) that,
[24] “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. [25] He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
Think about this. God is love, and love is not self-seeking (see 1 Corinthians 13:5). So since God is in you (speaking to believers), He doesn’t want you to have a “me me” (selfish) life. He wants you to influence many for Christ. But that is not possible if you don’t trade your life for Jesus.
Let me tell you something. There are eternal benefits to living unto God. You might not see it immediately, but it is worth it in the end. Take ministry seriously, dear friend. Work diligently because if man doesn’t reward you well, surely God will.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me the grace to serve You with gladness. Help me to push on in faith as I fulfil Your will daily. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
