“The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” — Psalms 119:130 NKJV
There is a big difference between you hearing the Word of God and the Word entering into your Spirit.
Many people read the Bible, but few people let the words in it enter into their inner man. Today, some people are committed to reading a portion of the Bible daily without meditating on a single verse. Such people brag about completing the Bible when they finish reading. Yet still, they have their lives untransformed.
Lisa Bevere once said, “It’s not about how many scriptures you know; it’s about how many you live.”
“It’s not about how many scriptures you know; it’s about how many you live.”
Lisa Bevere
The impact of scripture is measured by how much it penetrates the inner man, not how much it gets kept in memory. That means it’s better to meditate on God’s Word than to memorise it. That makes meditation a necessity to having God’s Word entering Your heart.
Until the Word enters you, you’ll not have the light of life to live like Jesus. It’s not enough to know the Word; you have to understand it. So that you’ll not live as a simple (foolish) person but as wise.
Life in Christ doesn’t make sense to the outside world. Avoid trying to convince others to understand God’s ways in Your life. You’ll only understand it the God way by the way you’ve received it in Your heart. Continue pressing on.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, open the eyes of my heart to let Your Word sink into my spirit. Give me a deeper understanding of the treasures of wisdom in Your Word, so much so that I’ll have more assurance in following You when nobody seems to find sense in what I do. Amen.
