“But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.” - Genesis 40:14 NKJV
These days, advertising has become necessary for every business to thrive. Joseph knew about this mystery long before television, radio, and social media came. He had divine gifts in him but was stuck in a dungeon out of injustice. One of his gifts was the gift of interpreting dreams.
One time, two prisoners had dreams that made them confused and sad. He helped them to get the interpretation. But for the chief butler, Joseph performed a spiritual advertisement by telling him that he should remember him (Joseph) when things go well with him in the palace. Unfortunately, this chief butler forgot about Joseph when he got restored to his position by Pharaoh (Genesis 40:23). To Joseph, it appeared as a disappointment. But it worked after two years. It was the same chief butler who helped Joseph to secure an opportunity to interpret a confusing dream of Pharoah.
Sometimes, we try to get out of situations before we’re done learning what God intended for us to comprehend. Joseph wanted to leave the prison, but how could his gifts be developed outside the prison? Stop forcing yourself out of places meant for your own learning. Don’t grow weary of doing good to people just because many of them don’t recognize your help unto them. Remember that ungratefulness is named as part of the end-time attitudes of people in 2 Timothy 3.
Continue to stir up the divine gift in you by utilizing it for others’ benefit. By so doing, God Himself will work out a way to bring you before great people. Always remember that it’s written in Proverbs 18:16 (NKJV), which appears to be my favourite scripture, that,
A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.
I prefer you use your education to harness the gift in you rather than using it to pile up certificates for yourself.
You’re a blessing.
