[25] “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” - Ephesians 4:25 (NIV)
In today’s world, when people are addressing sin in many churches, there’s a stronger emphasis laid on fornication, adultery and other sexual sins. Yes, I don’t dispute that such sins are among the most committed in the world. However, lying or falsehood is also prevalent these days. Many people are used to living very fake lives – saying things they don’t have and living lavish lives they can’t afford.
Today, there is a warning from scripture for every believer. Put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbour. In other words, desist from all forms of lies. But you may ask, how can I do this? Won’t people see me as bad because of the fake lifestyle I’ve portrayed to them for a while?
I want to encourage you that it is better to do what the Word of God says and be called names than to live a fake life to please people. God is the One who created you, not people. At the end of the day, you will render the account of your life to God, not to any man. Emphasise living by God’s standards, and refuse to be pressured by any individual to live a life at a level God hasn’t raised you to.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your love. Help me to put off falsehood in any way possible in my life as I live to fulfil Your will. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
