By[23] “and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,” – Ephesians 4:23 (NKJV)
Did you know that your mind has a spirit? That spiritual aspect of your mind is where the Holy Spirit connects you to Him. Your brain is visible, but your mind isn’t. Why? Because your mind is spiritual. Unfortunately, unbelievers have their minds darkened (see Ephesians 4:18), which means they cannot understand and appreciate God’s ways. But for believers, the Holy Spirit revives our hearts so that they will remain connected to God.
Because every believer spends some time in the world as an unbeliever before the gospel reaches out to them to be saved, it’s evident that we pick up destructive ideologies from the world. Because of that, many people in church still hold on to destructive doctrines they used to live with in the world. Having such thoughts (strongholds), even as an unbeliever, is not profitable for your spiritual growth. Why? Because your sense of judgment on what’s good and evil won’t be rooted in the Word.
In Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV), the Bible says,
[6] “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, [7] rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
From this, it’s clear that everything you live for in Christ must be rooted in faith, which involves perceiving everything from an accurate understanding of the Word. Therefore, to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, you need to know the Word. Do not leave your life to chance, child of God. Pay the price to draw near to God. That will save you!
