The Definition of Spiritual Adultery

[4] “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. [5] Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?” — James 4:4 - 5 NIV

Do you know that when you get born again, you’re one Spirit with the Lord because of your union with Jesus (see 1 Corinthians 6:17)? And so because of that, giving your heart to worldly lusts as a Christian is like cheating in marriage. That’s the definition of spiritual adultery – living as a friend of the world, or in other words, an enemy of the cross of Christ.

How much your life will reflect Christ depends on your relationship with Him.

When you live a double life, you become a hypocrite, and you’ll begin to lose trust amongst the brethren you even fellowship with in the house of God. But do you know how to cease this in your life? In two simple steps.

In Christ, you can never lose your salvation. But how much your life will reflect Christ depends on your relationship with Him.

Do you want to live a shallowly-connected life in Christ or know Jesus intimately? I prefer you choose the latter part because you’ll not end up committing spiritual adultery since you’ll not become a friend of the world.

There are so many attractive things in the world that the enemy shows you to tempt your commitment to the Lord. But hold on firmly to eternal life; for God knows what’s ahead of you. And I pray He enlightens your mind to always see ahead before making generational decisions today. Amen!

Prayer:

Father, I choose to grow in grace in the divine knowledge. Empower me to shun anything worldly in my life that doesn’t glorify you; so that my life will preach Jesus to the lost. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
