[22] So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” – Luke 4:22 (NKJV)
Once, I was listening to a man of God preaching in my local church. He said that too many people tell him the content he preaches from the Word of God is too good to be true. But he usually replies to such people that preaching is about speaking grace-filled words and that it has no option other than to be an announcement of good news to lives. Having grown up in a generation where several preachers mixed legalism with the gospel, it has become hard for a generation to grasp how good the gospel is in order for them to get the full benefits therein. So today, some people see pastors as fake, hungry people exploiting others to get their money.
Dear one, the first time Jesus stood before a congregation to preach the Word, the Bible says that the people marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. They wondered whether or not it was the same Jesus, Joseph’s son, that they had seen growing up. Can I tell you something profound? When you step up into the fullness of your divine calling, people are going to be more surprised about you. But in the midst of that, don’t twist the preaching of the good news God has entrusted to you.
Ministry is quite different and demands more dedication to studying the Bible than ever. Keep working, and the Lord will take care of you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gospel in my life. Help me to keep preaching the gospel no matter the circumstance. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
