“When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.” — Luke 5:6-7 NIV
Sometimes, life gets so hard that people become desperate to see a sudden outburst of unprecedented miracles in their lives. That’s not an unpleasant desire. But God knows that many of us don’t know how to manage miracles wisely. So even if He does them, their profits in our lives become short-lived. And it even gets worse when no spiritual understanding gets picked up by us after experiencing them.
Peter toiled all night to get some fish. But he caught nothing. Life became hard for him at that moment because he had no fish to both sell and send home. Jesus gave him an instruction to cast his net beside his boat. The Bible records that the number of fish Peter caught was so many that he had to send for other colleagues to help him.
Peter got his desired miracle. But suppose he didn’t have friends who served as a support system, then he could have lost all that he caught because his net was breaking. Now that is the case for some of us. We pray for God to do something unique in our lives. When we get what we want, we realize that we don’t have enough divine wisdom and support systems to manage the miracle.
Do you have purposeful friendships? Do you have connections with people who’ll help you in the future? You may ask, “but how can I know them?” Well, I’ll say that if you know God’s direction for your life, you’ll know that based on some people’s field of work today, you’ll need their services and help in your future as you journey with God.
In other words, knowing God’s direction for your life can help you build some necessities beforehand. Don’t just befriend or follow people, have a reason, whether closed or undisclosed to you. However, spend time studying. For it’s not a sudden outburst of something huge that makes it last, but the knowledge behind its sustenance. Manage miracles wisely.
You’re a blessing.
