Don’t Get Surprised When People Hate You Because of Jesus

[12] “Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. [13] And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” – Mark 4:12-13 (NKJV)

They say that persecution in this current generation isn’t as terrible as what the early Church faced. I say “yes” and “no.” But why? I say “yes” because there are many laws in many countries that condemn acts such as killing people because of their faith, thereby reducing physical abuse on servants of God. But I say “no” because we live in an evil age where many ways of sinning have evolved. So, with Christians living in it, persecution has become more common because people now have ways to attack believers for their faith, such as cyberbullying.

When Jesus was warning His disciples about the end times, He said some things that are happening today. One of them is a brother betraying a brother to death, a father betraying his child and children rising up against parents. Aren’t these happening? We live in a generation where not even parents can decide the gender of their children in some countries. What a pity!

For those who choose to stand firm by the gospel, don’t get surprised when people hate you because of Jesus. Don’t get amazed when people give you a turn-off for speaking the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. Except God removes the spiritual blindness the devil has cast on the unbelievers to see the treasure of the gospel, they won’t believe in the message of Christ.

Are you being attacked for living according to the ways of Christ instead of following bad family traditions that have plagued them with many problems? Don’t give up, for it takes time for God to prove to them that your life is better than the bad ways they are used to. Keep your spiritual fervour as you serve the Lord with gladness.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to keep holding on to the gospel of Jesus Christ no matter where I find myself. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
