[9] “But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.” – Titus 3:9 (NIV)
There are many dos and don’ts for believers in Christ in the New Testament, especially the ministers of the gospel. A set of them is written in Titus 3:9, where Apostle Paul tells us to avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, and quarrels about the law. You may have realised that engaging in such things, even as an unbeliever, isn’t profitable, especially in family controversies. Several families where controversies exist among the siblings don’t usually do well because each person tries to devour the other. What a tragedy!
Dear friend, the Bible speaks about us believers putting up as much effort as possible to prioritise living in peace with all people (see Hebrews 12:14). So when you promote controversies, hold on to arguments and refuse to forgive people, you hurt yourself when you do that. In fact, it’s even difficult to live when you’re always having issues with people. Medically speaking, it doesn’t promote heart health.
Don’t live an unprofitable and useless life by always being the central point of arguments and fights among others. Instead, pursue a deeper intimacy with God in order for Him to help you discover your divine purpose so as to live it out. That will bring focus and discipline to your life, and you’ll not even have time to argue with others.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your love and care in my life. Please help me to stay focused and build a good relationship with others who will help me in any way on my faith journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
