Don’t Destroy Yourselves as Brethren

[15] “If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.” – Galatians 5:15 (NIV)

There are some people who think fighting, backbiting and gossiping about others aren’t evil acts, capable of destroying close friendships and relationships, even in church. If you are one of such people, please repent of such thoughts because they are untrue. The Bible says in Galatians 5:15 that if we bite and devour each other as brethren, we can end up destroying each other if care isn’t taken. Think about this!

Intermittent fights and grudges are entirely impossible to prevent. Why? Because it’s written in Luke 17:1 that “… it is impossible but that offences will come.” That means offences are bound to come as long as a group of people gather, even in marriage. So, if you don’t psych your mind like that, and it happens, you may do outrageous things to repay the evil others do to you. That, in turn, makes you lose focus on God, your vision, and meaningful friendships.

Can I tell you something, people of God? Don’t destroy yourselves as brethren, especially in the same church. The devil capitalises on these things to make people shun fellowship, and once fellowship is missing, he starts leading them to do rebellious things. Learn to forgive people very quickly and move on in your faith journey. If Jesus forgave you even before birth, why don’t you live with a forgiving heart in the Lord? That will help you so much.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love towards me. Help me to live with a forgiving heart every day, entirely focused on doing what You have called me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
