There’s a Due Season to Reap Our Labour of Good Works

[9] “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

My mum was born in 1970, and my dad was born in 1967. While they grew up, there was nothing like mobile phones or the internet. They had a hard time connecting to people far off. Today, as I write this devotional, things have changed. I can call a colleague in another country using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) in any social media application like WhatsApp or Telegram. Furthermore, the invention of instant messaging apps has subtly built impatience in many hearts. I’ve personally encountered issues with people I chose to delay replying to their texts. Really?

In this modern generation, many youngsters don’t like falling in love with process. They want many things and want them now, not even years to come. Because of that, when a person is doing good to another fellow, he expects to reap his benefits in the shortest possible time. Where has patience gone?

The Bible urges us to continue doing good to people as Christians without growing weary. But why? Because there’s a due season to reap our labour of good works. Do you get that? You don’t have to expect immediate results for extending a helping hand to people today as God’s child because you’ll reap such benefits in due season.

Nonetheless, there are many things that discourage the children of God from walking in good works. One of them is people’s ungratefulness. Another is offences, that is, people paying back evil for good. Guard your heart from being adversely affected by the negative behaviour of people around you, and focus on obeying God’s Word.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for encouraging me to keep blessing lives whether they pay me well or not. Help me to focus on living according to Your ways in this evil generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
