Do Not Hold Grudges Against Others

[18] “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” – Romans 12:18 (NKJV)

What is a grudge? It simply means a complaint. When you complain about others, it means you have noticed something they are doing that you don’t like. That has been a common practice in several workplaces, homes and even churches. Sometimes, people are not as responsible as they claim they are. So, they tend to have problems with the responsible ones. Other times, you may not agree with the decisions people take that concern your life. This kind of grudge sometimes happens between parents and children. But, in response to these life issues, what does the Bible say?

Inspired by the Holy Ghost, Paul tells us in Romans 12:18 that we should live peaceably with all men, as much as it depends on us. Wait a minute! The scripture doesn’t say you will have a peaceful life on a silver platter. It says that as far as any situation that may cause chaos depends on your response, resolve to peace. So, it’s your responsibility to guard the peace you have in Christ when it comes to relating with others. That’s great news!

Do not hold grudges against others in your heart. It is not good for your health. Moreover, it damages your relationships with others because of the absence of peace. It is difficult to work, stay or fellowship with someone you have grudges with. Your heart belongs to God, dear Christian. Keep its content filled with Christ!

Prayer:

Father, help me have peaceful relationships with others in my faith journey. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
