“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:” - Hebrews 12:14 NKJV
Peace is an important virtue promoted in every country, especially during elections. We all love it when our communities are peaceful to live in. But the Bible says we, Christians, must pursue peace with all people. That means peace is pursuable. But how can we do it?
We pursue peace mainly by walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). Notice that I didn’t say “living in the Spirit” because each Christian is already in the Spirit since the day he (or she) got saved (Romans 8:9). Now let’s delve deeper into this matter.
Peace is enlisted as a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22. So when you walk in the Spirit, you’ll manifest the fruit of the Spirit (all nine characteristics concurrently). Following that, your speech will be restrained by the Spirit in you; your consciousness will be clear and, the Word of God will fill your mind.
There are times people will infuriate you. There are times people will speak evil and gossip about you. In all those bad times, you have every right to hate those who do it. But when you’re walking in the Spirit, you’ll love them. God’s love has no loopholes. It forgives and keeps no record of wrongs. Friend, don’t let another person’s misbehavior rob you from enjoying your peace in the Lord.
You’re a blessing.
