Learn and Practice the Secret of Following God’s Instructions

[2] “Then the LORD appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. [3] Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.” – Genesis 26:2-3 (NKJV)

There are three kinds of people in this world according to how each person lives.

1. Those who are constantly progressing in life.

2. Those whose lives are going in cycles.

3. Those whose lives are moving backwards.

Many unbelievers are falling into the second and third categories. But you may ask why. It is because experiencing progression in a changing world where economies are constantly performing worse without engaging the all-wise God is so difficult. There are people who work hard and save a lot of money for their future. But as they grow, one dire incident, orchestrated by the devil happens, which takes out all their hard-earned money. What a tragedy!

Life is spiritual. And if you really want to see consistent progression, you must learn and practice the secret of following God’s instructions. Look at the life of Isaac in the Bible. For a season in the land he stayed, there was famine, and that forced him to decide to relocate to Egypt. But God told him to stay in Gerar, which was also part of the towns affected by the famine (see Genesis 26:2-3). He sowed in that same land and reaped a hundredfold harvest (see Genesis 26:12). Now, the Philistines started envying Isaac because they couldn’t understand how a foreigner was prospering so much in their land. That same thing is happening in this generation.

The people of God who hear God and follow His instructions usually end up experiencing much progression in their lives in a shorter lifespan, so much so that people begin to wonder why they aren’t moving at such a pace. If people start envying you for the blessings of God upon your life, don’t join them and discuss your wins. They’ll get more jealous of you. Instead, teach those who want to know how you got to where you are from a sincere heart.

I once heard Pastor Jerry Eze saying, “the sky is big enough for everybody.” If God did it for someone else, go to that same God to do it for you instead of envying the person. Don’t merely copy what people do; ask them why they do what they do.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to follow Your ways everywhere I find myself, despite the attacks and persecutions that come with living a godly life in this perverse generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
