[22] “Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.” — I Timothy 5:22 NKJV
Did you know that the day you got born again, you got empowered by grace to keep yourself pure – departing from all iniquity and laying aside evil ways of doing things (see 1 Peter 2:1, 2 Timothy 2:19)?
As servants of God, we’re ambassadors for Christ wherever we go. Therefore, if people want to see Christ, we’re the ones they should come to. And that requires us to live a highly disciplined life in sync with God’s standards.
Apostle Paul told Pastor Timothy that despite his young age, he should set an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity (see 1 Timothy 4:12). So with all these in view, he’d be able to keep himself pure in all life endeavours for the glory of God and his own peace in life.
Walking in God’s ways is for your own profit. And even though it’s true that we live in an evil age (see Galatians 1:4), you have the divine enablement to distinguish yourself from wicked people.
Don’t be afraid to lose friendships for the cause of Christ. God will never be unfaithful to provide you with quality friendships to help you lift up the Jesus agenda in your life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, for the divine enablement to keep me pure in this evil age. Surround my life with like-minded people who’ll help advance the cause of Christ wherever I go. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
