"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." - John 13:15 NIV
The best form of training a leader can give to his followers is to set an example by practising what he teaches. People remember what you model more than what you say. Although not everyone is perfect, there are people whose lives testify to the goodness of God because their works bear testimony of the gospel.
Jesus was the first person to show us how to set an example for people. He washed the 12 apostles’ feet with humility. That wasn’t easy because, in those days, the dust from the land of Israel alone made their feet very dirty. But by doing it, Jesus implied that it’s required for you to do what others find difficult to perform if you want to set an example for them to follow, especially when the actions are godly.
Any person notable for great exploits in the kingdom of God usually does what’s uncommon. When you see great people walk around you in humility, don’t just be interested in celebrating their works. Inquire from them about how they’re able to follow God and do His work despite all the persecutions and problems without ceasing. By doing so, you’ll pick up seeds of divine wisdom from them. When you implement what they teach you diligently, you’ll lead your generation.
You’re a blessing.
