[14] “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,” – Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV)
One of the greatest desires of every parent is to see their child mature to become responsible and loving. That desire, even in unbelieving parents, forms part of God’s core design of human beings. Why? Because God, the Creator, has had it in His personality. Today, God’s two primary desires, as captured in 1 Timothy 2:4, are for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (mature spiritually).
Child of God, it is God’s desire for you to mature spiritually. That is why, even before the Church was born, Jesus Christ apportioned diverse gifts to men to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. When you submit to this divine administration, what happens is that you’ll mature spiritually, especially in divine knowledge. That will build you up to live in the light of God’s understanding and not be tossed about by any wind of doctrine, whether false teachings in Christ or wrong advice of men, especially those coming from unbelievers, whose minds are darkened (see Ephesians 4:18).
Mature people don’t go about being moved by just any current. They don’t live confused about the truth and have little need for direction. God want you to mature. He wants you to know Him experientially. Prioritise your spiritual growth and submit to the ministry organisation structure. It will help you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep growing spiritually, no matter where I am. May I never lose the desire to know You better each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
