“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.” — Psalms 124:2 - 5 NKJV
The first time my eyes gazed upon these three Bible verses was October 16, 2022. I was so lighted up in my spirit that I started meditating on how God has brought me through each situation in my past. The same goes for you today.
If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, men would have destroyed us. Evil people would have seen us dead. People would have loved to see us unprogressive. But let God be true, and every man be a liar. He said in Jeremiah 29:11 (GNB) that,
I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.
You see, not everyone thinks as how God thinks. Some people have vowed, consciously or unconsciously, to do evil against the things God has called you to do. That is why people attack men of God on social media these days, creating fake accounts just to destroy their reputations.
Situations are temporary. Circumstances come and leave. But our Jesus is constant. He’s committed to you, whether you deserve it or not, whether people respect you or not.
Today, I want you to feel encouraged after reading this devotional. God is with you, and He is greater than anything and anybody who has vowed to tarnish your image. Have no time to spend on unimportant things. Endure afflictions for the cause of Christ, and focus on fulfilling your divine mandate. Be strengthened.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, from the bottom of my heart, I thank You for committing to loving me despite who I am. Thank you for your consistent supply of grace to keep me moving forward. In Jesus’ name, I renounce any little attention I have given to anything that’ll throw me off Your path. Expand my vision so I can develop an increasing focus. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
