Clear Your Old Path

[20] “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

Today is the 31st of December, and as the custom is in many lives, people begin to make plans for the new year. Statistics have proven that many New Year resolutions usually don’t work. But I asked myself why. I think it’s one thing to make a decision and another to follow up on that decision. For example, deciding not to steal again doesn’t make you stop stealing. The temptation to fall back is real. The “ideal” is usually different from the actual situation on board.

God is good, and His mercies endure forever. He specialises in turning old, rugged lives new, not because of what they did but because of Jesus. Take Paul’s life as an example. He labelled himself as the chief of sinners (see 1 Timothy 1:15). Before his miraculous conversion, he participated in imprisoning some Christians and even killing Stephen. God knew all these about him, but He still used him.

Are you beating yourself up because of the bad things you’ve done this year or so far? I want you to brace yourself up, accept Jesus (if you’re not born again) or rededicate your life to God so that He will clear your old path. You see, many people think there is joy and fulfilment in the world. But over time, they realised they were wasting their lives. God can renew your life, so don’t give up on yourself. Let Him lead you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, clear my old path of filth as I prepare to embrace the new year in grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
