[52] “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” – Luke 2:52 (NIV)
Every family member gets excited when a new baby is born. But over time, the bliss of the baby’s arrival fades, and more attention is placed on the child’s growth. If the baby doesn’t get constantly fed, he’ll die. Isn’t it? Yes, it is. That is where parents who don’t have enough money tend to worry about provision. In fact, several parents and even grandparents will tell you that taking care of children is no joke; it’s serious business.
Anyway, despite the difficulties many people go through to take care of their children, growth is still necessary. But for you as a child of God, it is even more essential because you cannot reach the fullness of your destiny in Christ without it. Imagine if Mary and Joseph had never fed Jesus when He was a little boy and took care of Him. Would He have experienced growth? Of course not. The Father knew that that couple would be faithful enough to care for Him, which is why He made Jesus come to the Earth through them.
Let me tell you something. As a parent, if God has blessed you with a child, He wants you to be faithful in caring for that child. And as a pastor, if God has blessed you with some of His sheep, be faithful to give them meaningful spiritual food. More importantly, as a child of God, don’t be over-reliant on others for your spiritual growth. Take utmost responsibility for it.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, place me strategically in places where I can grow well spiritually. Help me to make more time to spend knowing You. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
