Are You Fit for Service in God’s Kingdom?

[62] Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:62 (NIV)

Back in Jesus’ days on Earth, many people admired Him. Some wanted to get closer to Him more than even His disciples. But many of such people also did not know that there was a price to pay for following Him. So, in Luke 9:57-62, Jesus received requests from some people desiring to follow Him, but before they did, they had to do some earthly tasks. Many of them resisted when Jesus told them to follow Him immediately.

Today, this is still happening in several places. Some people willingly accept the call to ministry but walk away months and years into it because they refuse to pay a higher price to reach a higher level of service in God’s kingdom. Others refuse to join the workforce, especially in church, because they prioritise other areas in their lives more than God.

Jesus said in Luke 9:62 that anyone who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for service in God’s kingdom. That means that when a child of God conceives a desire to serve in the ministry but later abandons that desire or walks away, that person is disqualified for kingdom service. So let me ask, are you fit for service in God’s kingdom? If not, redefine your desire and get back on track with God. He loves you so much that He’ll not push you away when you come to Him in repentance.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me that anointing to serve You. Help me do it diligently and willingly for Your glory. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
