God’s Word Will Never Pass Away

[31] “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” – Mark 13:31 (NIV)

One of the most debated scriptures is Mark 13:31, where Jesus said heaven and earth will pass away, but His words won’t. You may ask yourself, “Heaven will pass away? If yes, then why are people struggling to make it there.” You see, Biblical interpretation is very critical to consider. Once you miss it, especially as a pastor, you will mislead several people, and God will judge you. That’s why the Apostle James warned that not so many people should become teachers of the Word (see James 3:1).

In today’s devotional, I want to talk about why God’s Word will never pass away, as Jesus said. But clarifying Jesus’ initial statement in the same verse is good, so you’ll understand it well. The word “heaven” in Mark 13:31 refers to the sky and the universe. So, for Jesus to say heaven and earth will pass away, He meant that everything we see on this earth and the entire universe, with all the solar systems, including, will pass away. It’s even confirmed in Ephesians 1:10, where the scripture reveals that God will bring all things in heaven and on Earth under Christ.

Now, if Jesus says God’s Word, which He was its incarnate, won’t pass away, it means He will never pass away because

  1. He is the same yesterday and today and forever (see Hebrews 13:8).
  2. Everything in heaven and Earth will be wrapped under Him because He is the Christ.

Beloved, believing in Christ is never a mistake. It is rewarding because Your faith is based on Him, who never dies or is subject to fading with time. Believe and live what the Word says about your life because God will never fail you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for grace and mercy. Help me to exalt Your Word above all other voices in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
