[38] “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. – Luke 1:38 NIV
By the grace of God upon me as a young minister (as at the time of this writing), I have had the privilege of reading the entire Bible several times. I have realised that the people who try to figure out how God will fulfil the promises He made to them never succeed in doing that. And in most cases, their mistakes have led to even more delays and promises in their lives.
Think of Moses. He knew he was ordained to lead the Israelites. But upon impatience, he ended up in the Middle East for forty years before God sent him back to fulfil his mandate. Think about Abraham. God promised him that he’d be the father of many nations. But due to his impatience with his wife Sarah, Ishmael came to the scene and to date, that boy’s descendants have become a problem in the Middle East. But Mary was different.
Mary wasn’t like Moses or Abraham. She never tried figuring out how God would fulfil His prophecies. After getting the explanation she needed from the angel Gabriel, she said, “I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled.”
You don’t need to learn how to do many things before believing the Lord to do the impossible. Believe in God’s promises without figuring out how He’ll do it. When you feel confused, pray about it instead of taking matters into your own hands. He’s a faithful God. He will never fail you. Believe in Him!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your promises over my life. Help me to keep trusting You to fulfil everything You’ve said concerning my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
