Give Intentionally to the Undeserving

[21] “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
[22] For so you will heap coals of fire on his head,
And the LORD will reward you.” – Proverbs 25:21-22 (NKJV)

How does it feel to keep supplying food to the doorsteps of someone you know that he hates you? It would be quite funny and nail-hitting on the enemy’s head. Right? Even though it is hard to do, it’s possible, and Scripture tells us to feed our enemies. That means you can give intentionally to the undeserving people in your life out of love.

The world says don’t love your enemy because when they get you, they’ll harm you. But Jesus says love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. It’s just not possible. Even God so loved the world that He gave Jesus to come and atone for the sin of the world (see John 3:16, John 1:29).

Giving should not only be related to money. You may not have an abundance of wealth to give. But what about those clothes you don’t wear anymore? What about the wisdom you give to those who need help in something you’re proficient in? What about that precious time you spend with a loved one? All these are things you can give to people, including those who don’t deserve it.

Don’t be stringent on your possessions. Countless people wish they had what you have, but you’re not seeing what you have as enough. Be grateful and make efforts to live in harmony with all manner of people.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, give me more resources so I can be a blessing to needy people, including my enemies. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
