Check Yourself Before Checking Others

[3] “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?” – Matthew 7:3 (NKJV)

One of the things I’ve observed people do very frequently is judging others. It’s now even common these days with the rise of social media comments on people’s posts. As a believer, do you check yourself before checking others? How many flaws have you seen in your life you need to work on (because I don’t think you’re perfect, right)?

Sometimes, it is not about what person A did or person B didn’t, but about the plank in your own eye. Could you have withstood that temptation you are busily accusing others of? Enough of tagging others of sin. We need to live checking ourselves constantly and the doctrine we live by, whether accurate or not, so that we don’t end up thinking we are pleasing God in our lifestyle; meanwhile, it may not be so.

God is omnipresent. He sees all that we do, both in the light and in secret. So watch yourself. Let the Holy Spirit empower you to live a life that pleases Him all your days. It is well with you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to do constant life checks on myself, lest I miss Your mark in all endeavours of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
