[3] “He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.” – Psalms 1:3 (NKJV)
In my few years of life, I have had the privilege of observing people desire great things in life without seeing them in manifestation for an extended period. Usually, when such people get the money they want to do what they desire, an unfortunate thing happens and usually ends them up spending on them. What a life!
Psalm 1 is a great scripture to use for life. From verse 1, the Psalmist starts by warning us not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly. Then, in verse 2, he taught us what we must desire in our lives – to meditate in the Word of God day and night. But in verse 3, he showed us the end result for the one who walks in the ways of God. It’s written that such a godly person’s life shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in its season. Think about this for a moment!
When a tree is on a river shore, one thing it’ll never lack is enough water for its nourishment. Because of the presence of the water, even in the dry season, that tree will continue to bear fruits. Also, it’s leaves will not wither too. Think about this!
When you draw close to God, He’ll keep supplying the strength, resources and power you need to keep being fruitful. As a matter of fact, flourishing in life is dependent on your relationship with God. Want to have strength for whatever God has called you to do each day? Look no further than fellowshiping with God. Remember that God is able to give you all the things you need for the fulfilment of divine purpose. So, pursue a deeper intimacy with Him rather than chasing the things.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your constant supply of strength to do Your will. Help me to live to glorify You in all my ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
