“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:25, 33 NIV
One problem common in our generation, especially the unemployed youth, is “worry about life.” It’s common to hear people say, “I have plans. But it’s left with some money.” Well, I want to let you know that God isn’t against planning, but He’s against worry. If your plan is in sync with His original plan for your life, you’re on track. He’s the one who created you. He knew your purpose before you became a blood clot in your mother’s womb. So worrying about your life doesn’t do any good to you.
One time Jesus was preaching to some Israelites. He said that they shouldn’t worry about their lives, specifically about what they’ll eat, wear and drink. Why? Because life is more than all these things people work for. Then he continued to give explanations for this statement until He said something in Matthew 6:33. That is,
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 NIV
When a “But” starts a statement, it means that the unfolding words aim to give a solution to what is previously said. Jesus didn’t merely say, “don’t worry about your life…”? He added that we should seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, and then all the things people worry about will be added to our lives. So here’s the point. Instead of worrying about your life, put your effort into advancing God’s kingdom; then the provisions will come.
God is faithful. When He sees that you’re concerned with fulfilling the corporate vision of Christ by labouring in His kingdom in every area of your influence, He’ll help you and provide what you need for both your private life and for doing His work. Do you want to get divine provision without struggle? Find your purpose in Christ and do it with all diligence.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that my consciousness in expanding your kingdom will remain heightened daily and never come down. Help me to find my purpose in You, and give me the grace to fulfil it with diligence. Amen.
