“Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive.” — Isaiah 52:1 - 2 NIV
One of the deficiencies of some Christians today is getting consistent strength to carry out their divine mandates. Aside from the limitations of our physical bodies, divine strength becomes a lack when our minds and hearts are disturbed by the issues of life. And even though God has given a solution to anxiety – that is, by prayer (Philippians 4:6-7), there’s a higher way to clothe ourselves with strength.
According to God’s Word in Isaiah 52:1, God instructs us to clothe ourselves with strength. In other words, He wants us not to frequently come and pray for strength when we’re lacking it. No. He wants us to be so vested in His divine strength, so much so that we’ll not need to add it to our prayer topics list. But how? – In two main ways.
- Consistent prayers
- Concentrating on your purpose
When you pray persistently, even for just fellowship with God, He’ll give you supernatural strength to keep working purposefully because divine strength outflows from your intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
Secondly, concentration on your divine mandate enables you to clothe yourself with strength. Also, it prevents you from dissipating power to do unnecessary things.
God’s anointing is unlimited because Christ is unlimited. But His grace doesn’t flow through you to do what He has not called you to accomplish. So to conserve strength, you’ve got to give your time and attention to your specific calling, eliminating all forms of distractions as far as possible.
Haven’t you seen in Isaiah 52:2 that God says, “Shake off your dust…”? That means you’ve got to cleanse your life by removing what isn’t necessary or stop doing what’s not profitable to you. You weaken yourself when you turn your eyes off the Lord.
Don’t be distracted by what people show off, especially in the media. God is committed to you, and because of that, following Him will never end you as a failure. Remain committed to Him too.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in Jesus’ name, I pray that You’ll guard my life against distractions. Help me to stay faithful to my calling and never get intimidated by what others are doing; for You have marked a unique race of faith in Christ for me that I’ll only be accountable for on the day before the judgment seat of Christ. Thank You for Your anointing upon my life. Amen!
