[25] “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” – Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)
Sometimes, people can just come to church with a very sad countenance. Other times, those same people come very happy. What contributes to that changes in the mood? It’s anxiety coming from the issues of life. Worry, fear and anxiety are brothers. When any of them happen and are not well treated, depression sets in because the issue weighs down the heart.
Do you have a friend who feels down because he can’t cope with the atrocities happening in his life? It’s time to help that person. Look at what the scripture says in the second part of today’s devotional anchor text.
“… but a kind word cheers it up.”
Your kind words have the capacity to lighten the burdens that weigh down the heart of that anxious person. You might overlook it, but it goes a long way to heal that person. Several people who committed suicide wouldn’t have done it if there was one person who encouraged them not to give up. Many would have dealt with the problems in their lives better if they had some people to speak to about their challenges. Fret not, dear friend. For God is with you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all You do for me. Comfort me when issues start weighing my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
