An Inner Witness That Confirms That You Are a Child of God

[16] “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,” – Romans 8:16 (NKJV)

One question that has been around Christendom for a while is, how can people be sure that they are saved? This question came up after people started doubting their salvation, usually responding to altar calls on crusade grounds multiple times. Was that a good practice? I’ll say yes and no. “Yes”, because it helps solidify the faith of those who doubt. “No”, because it’s not helpful for Christians to keep doubting their salvation, except if they aren’t living according to the ways of the Spirit.

According to Romans 8:16, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit is the One who bears witness with each believer’s spirit that one is a child of God. So, He’s an inner witness to us, and one of the things He does is to make us know that we are indeed children of God.

Do you have doubts about your salvation? You don’t need to recite the “salvation prayer” multiple times to confirm you are saved. No! Check whether you have the Holy Spirit in you. If it’s a “yes”, the Bible says you belong to Christ (see Romans 8:9), hence you are saved. Very simple. Right? Don’t trivialise this revelation. Keep it in your consciousness.
