The Word of God Is Alive

[12] “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

One of the primary functions of the Word of God is its aliveness in the believer’s life. The King James Version translates the word “alive” in the verse above as “quick.” That means God’s Word is so potent that it goes to work instantly when it gets released by faith. Let me cite one example from Mark 11:12-25.

One time, Jesus was on a ministry tour with His team members from Bethany. But Jesus was hungry, so He approached a fig tree to get some fruits to eat. When He approached that tree, there were no fruits on it. Guess what Jesus did? He cursed that fig tree to never bear fruit again. In fact, when He did it, the disciples heard what He said. Meanwhile, nothing happened to that tree instantly.

The next day, Jesus, with His disciples, passed by that same spot, and they (the disciples) saw that that fig tree had withered to its root (see Mark 11:20). Wow! It looked as if the Word Jesus released the day before was powerless. But it went to work. God doesn’t function by our own timing. So when you release a Word, and nothing happens immediately, don’t think such a Word didn’t work. No! As long as you said those words by faith, you have it. Do not let your eyes and mine deceive you. Remember what Jesus said in Mark 11:24 (NIV), that is,

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Keep your faith alive and live unto God. For none of your prayers, if said in faith, has ever gone before God unheard.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making Your Word alive in my life. I believe that I will get whatever I ask from You in prayer. Help me never to pray amiss. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
