by[13] “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” – Romans 8:13 (NKJV)
Have you ever thought of the central reason why God made you a spirit being when you were saved? It’s because He knows there is no profit in living according to fleshly (sinful) dictates. Secondly, He is also aware that the wages of sin is death (see Romans 3:23). So, in order not to make you subject to death (not necessarily about physical death, but irresponsiveness to God), He made you a new creature in Christ.
The Bible says in Romans 8:13 that if you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if, by the Spirit, you put to death the misdeeds of the body (sinful flesh), you will live (thrive in eternal life). So, a danger to avoid if you think of living according to the flesh is death. Once the devil suggests to you sinful things to do, remember the effect it has on your spirit, death, and avoid it. He (the devil) is an expert in presenting sin as somehow appealing to the eyes, but hides the ripple effect behind it once a person falls into it. That is why he’s called a deceiver. Don’t let him deceive you in any way.
As a child of God, you have received divine enablement to live by the dictates of the Spirit. So, with that power in you, use it to mortify the deeds of the flesh that present themselves in the form of temptations. It is well with you on every side.
