[19] “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.” – Matthew 13:19 (NIV)
Did you know that the devil can steal God’s Word sown in the heart of a Christian? When I read Matthew 13:19, I was a little surprised because how can the devil steal a Word that is sharper than a double-edged sword, as written in Hebrews 4:12? But I realised that according to Jesus, the devil doesn’t steal the Word by touching it but by causing distractions and issues to make it ununderstandable by the receiver. And if the receiver does not understand it, he cannot bear any fruit with it. Very simple.
So there’s a challenge thrown before you, dear Christian. Guard the Word sown in your heart, whether you receive it via a sermon in church, personal Bible Study or through a ministry media content. If you don’t guard it and you allow other things to distract you, the devil will steal it from you. That is why victims of this scheme of the devil usually end up tired and forgetful about God’s promises, blaming Him for unfaithfulness towards their lives. Meanwhile, it has always been about them and not God.
God is faithful to every one of His children. I want to repeat that. God is faithful to every one of His children. There is nothing wrong with Him because there’s no trace of darkness in Him (see 1 John 1:5). It has always been a man’s problem, not God’s problem. So, solve yours, and God will help you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to guard Your Word in my heart. Assist me to apply it well and bear fruit with it. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
