Three Primary Things You Must Possess To Actualise Your Vision

Every vision will remain a dream on paper or in mind if the dreamer ignores it. Nothing glamorous you see today anywhere was a product of chance. People worked to do it.

Vision without work is like sleeping, only to never wake up. Bishop David Oyedopo once said, “Greatness doesn’t fall on people. They step into it.” That means there are some things you must possess and do if you want to actualise your vision. And today, I’m glad to share three of them with you.

1. Discipline

Discipline is the bridge between where you are and where God wants you to be in future. Maybe you don’t get this statement well. Let’s read Proverbs 29:18a (NKJV).

“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;”

The word “revelation” in the Bible verse above means “vision” or “foresight.” And the word “restraint” means “free movement without limits.” So here’s the raw interpretation in my understanding; “Where there is no foresight of the future, people move around freely without sticking to what’s meaningful.” Whenever there’s free movement without limits, a vision suffers neglect.

Vision without work is like sleeping, only to never wake up.

So one thing God does when He gives a person a vision is that, He guides his movements and activities. He doesn’t allow visionary people to engage themselves with just anything in life. Sometimes, He shuts up all job opportunities for a while in a man’s life precisely to make him committed to his divine vision. That’s the wisdom of God.

Discipline is the root of sacrifice. When you discipline yourself to stay committed to your divine vision in Christ, your sacrifices will pay off greatly, if not immediately, later in life.

Every vision will remain a dream on paper or in mind if the dreamer ignores it.

When Jesus began ministry at 30, he never went to Joseph’s carpentry shop to help him. His divine mandate created a niche for his life and separated him from life distractions. You must understand and practice this principle if you want your vision to become actualised.

2. Attention

The second thing you must possess to actualise your vision is attention. Every achiever knows that if he gives his time and energy to what he’s doing, it’ll surely flourish. I believe this life principle works for anybody, whether a Christian or not, just as seedtime and harvest work for all people (Genesis 8:22).

Christians like you and me have an advantage. That is the Holy Spirit. He empowers God’s people to give their time and attention to their work. Even Jesus said in John 15:5 that without Him, we can do nothing.

Greatness doesn’t fall on people. They step into it.

Bishop David Oyedopo

Many people struggling to make ends meet today is because they are not giving their time to do what’s necessary. Young man or lady, you cannot reap from where you’ve not sown. Dear pastor, you cannot see the fruition of that great congregation in your vision without sowing the spiritual seed of intense prayer for long. Don’t join people moving here and there because of one or two issues. Stay faithful to God’s call. It’ll surely flourish.

3. Resources

Lastly, every vision needs resources to get actualised. Without the necessary resources, any vision will end in frustration. God demonstrated this from the beginning.

Before He created Adam, He created everything he would need to work purposefully. Talking about the trees Adam would eat from, the animals he’d name, and even the light he would need to see what he has to do.

God doesn’t allow visionary people to engage themselves with just anything in life.

Based on this knowledge, there are four kinds of resources every visionary person needs to actualise his vision.

a. Natural resources

Natural resources are essential needs provided by only nature to help you accomplish your vision. Take a resource like sunlight. Without it, there’ll be no light in the day to work.

Even if it gets replaced by electricity, note that the same electricity is being produced from natural resources like the sun and water. And because these resources are natural, the best thing we can do as humans is to add value to them in order to use them effectively.

b. Work Equipment

Every work needs equipment to do it. A farmer needs farming tools and machines aside from the natural resource called seeds to do farming well. Also, a software engineer can’t work without at least one laptop.

Sometimes, when you see godly people having many provisions, don’t envy them. Many of them don’t have possessions to show off. God provided for them to use to work purposefully.

For this cause, you have the right to pray, demanding everything you need to do God’s work from heaven. God will answer you because He knows that when He gives it to you, you’ll not become a slave to it.

c. Human resources

Human resources are also another essential part of the vision. One man can’t do everything. You may start what God has told you to do singly. But as the vision expands, you’ll soon realise that you need help. Jesus knew this, so He started choosing His team just after God announced Him from heaven when John The Baptist baptised Him.

Sometimes, it’s hard to search for the right people to help you. So be ready to invest in training the people God bless you with to serve Him in your organisation. Peter was a fisherman, not a minister until he met Jesus. Matthew was a tax collector until he met Jesus. Visionary man reading this right now, God has given you the authority to put people’s lives in order. Use that wisely.

d. Financial resources

Lastly, financial resources are paramount in every vision. Nothing is really free in this world. And you can attest that you cannot produce everything you need to actualise your vision.

For example, I didn’t manufacture the laptop I used to write this article. But I paid some money to the manufacturer to acquire it. Suppose I lacked financial resources, then how could I have done this work?

You see, money isn’t all about acquiring wealth and spending it. It’s about purpose. If you understand why God allowed people to invent money way back in Genesis 17, you’ll use it purposefully.

Friend, these things I’ve discussed here are essential to your life. For the sake of remembrance, print this article and put it somewhere you’ll remember to read every time. You’re a blessing.
