“Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” — John 14:23 - 24 NIV
Do you love Jesus? That’s a question many ministers throw towards their audience when they are preaching. Some of us are so used to using God and His church for our own benefit that we are failing to do what God’s Word teaches.
Loving God isn’t about doing things in His name. It’s about doing His Word. Jesus said that anyone who loves Him would obey His teaching (John 14:23). So once you hear the teachings of Christ and you obey them, it’s a love language you’re communicating to Jesus. That tells us that God is more interested in your state of heart than what you do for Him.
Once you hear the teachings of Christ and you obey them, it’s a love language you’re communicating to Jesus.

For example, if He tells you to give some money to support the work of the ministry, He checks your heart of obedience before the size of the gift.
Jesus didn’t say, “anyone who loves Him will submit to Him,” but will obey His teaching. Submission can be done with an unwilling heart but not obedience. Submission is about your actions; obedience is about your attitude – (John Bevere). Do not just submit to God; find joy in obeying His Word, whether you fully comprehend it or not. God will never forsake you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I pray that you’ll help me to love you better each day. Grant me an obedient heart that finds pleasure in honouring your instructions. Thank You for Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
