You Have the Privilege to Ask God What You Want

[9] “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? [10] Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? [11] If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” — Matthew 7:9-11 NKJV

Some people see God as too strict and too powerful that they find it hard to approach Him in love to make some personal prayer requests. But for those who live like that, I don’t blame them because they’ve been wrongly taught that God is some superman who’s ready to slay people when they do something wrong.

If there’s nothing I remember in the scriptures, I know for sure that God is love (1 John 4:8). And because of that truth, He’s welcoming to everyone, even to the worst sinner.

Dear friend, come to God as you are. You have the privilege to ask God what you want because He’ll give it to you if you meet His requirements for answering prayers. And what are they?

  • Faith (see Mark 11:24)
  • Without selfishness (see James 4:3-4).
  • Without doubt (see James 1:5).
  • Without unforgiveness (see Mark 11:25)

There are more in the scriptures. But if not at all, remember these and live by it. May the Lord be with you in everything you do. Shalom!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Lord, I come to you as I am. Your Word made me understand that You’re generous enough to give me what I ask. Today, purge my desires with Your holy fire so that I’ll pursue only the ones that will glorify Your name. Amen!
