Work Diligently

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” — Genesis 2:15 KJV

God has had a purpose for creating work since the beginning. Some know it, and as a result, such people work diligently and effectively to make both an impact and a living in this world. However, many people don’t. That’s why it’s not surprising how many people hate going to work, especially on Mondays, while always desiring to have long weekends.

When God created man, He placed him in the garden of Eden to dress and keep it (see Genesis 2:15). From this scripture, I can say two things.

  1. God gave Adam work to fulfil His purpose as the gardener of the earth.
  2. God placed Adam in Eden with all the things he’ll need to work effectively already available. That is why He created the animals Adam would name before himself. God also created the trees Adam would need for food before creating man.

Now from these two mysteries unveiled in Genesis 2:15, it’s clear that work is not a curse because God established it before the fall happened in Genesis 3. Secondly, the things needed to work diligently must get supplied by every master at the workplace. That includes material products and immaterial necessities like character, unity in vision, teamwork, team training, and a good salary.

If all these things get well supplied in workplaces, people’s hatred for work will reduce drastically.

You may be in a place where these things are absent. However, remember that you’re a child of God. Build your world in accordance with knowledge from the Bible. When you do this, you’ll live fulfilled lives, thrive in dry places, denounce laziness, and also become an influential contributor both to God’s kingdom and society.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Oh, Jesus, help me know why you brought me on this earth; that I’ll work diligently and purposefully to fulfil my reason for living.
