Don’t Underwork Yourself As A Believer

[1] “Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all,” – Galatians 4:1 (NKJV)

Pastor Mensa Otabil once said that if you see anybody doing an exceptional thing in any field of life, especially as a Christian, it’s not luck, grace, or favour. It is discipline. That means discipline in doing something is essential to becoming a genius in that thing over time. To grow in the field of your divine assignment, your gift ought to be in constant use.

Unfortunately, there are many Christians who don’t master anything they do. They settle for living by the norm and lifestyle they are used to, never attempting any higher height in their field of calling. Yet, they want to get to the top. Friend, it doesn’t work like that.

Paul explained this very well in Galatians 4:1. He said that if an heir is a child, he’s no different from a slave, even though he’s a master. But why? It’s because such a person isn’t mature enough to live as an heir in full consciousness. In Christ, this principle is in full force.

Assuming you’re a minister reading this, and you aspire to minister to thousands of people as God takes you higher in His service, how are you managing that small team of ten church members? Did you know that new levels come with new attacks? Who will take care of the souls if you’re praying for an increase and yet unfaithful with managing a few?

Friend, don’t underwork yourself. In other words, don’t settle for less just because what’s in your hands to do right now is little. Invest in yourself. Pay the price to acquire more divine knowledge, even if your level is insignificant today. So that when it’s God’s due time to lift you, you’ll not be bankrupt of wisdom to sustain you at that level.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for showing me that maturity is necessary to reach my highest calling. May I never be slack to do things that’ll commit to my spiritual growth in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
