“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — 1 John 5:11 - 12 NIV
The seed of every fruit-bearing tree is in its fruit, not its branches or leaves.
In the same way, God wants every person to have access to His eternal life. But He had placed it in Jesus. Therefore, Jesus has become the only way to access eternal life. That implies salvation through Jesus Christ is very important to receive eternal life. Without it, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done for God or how long you’ve been in church; you’re not born again.
Sometimes, we emphasise healing sick people, getting many miracles and earthly things, and neglecting significant spiritual necessities like salvation and the spirit (passion) of prayer for the unsaved. I’m not saying asking for items from God through prayer is wrong. No! It’s good and even a kingdom privilege (Philippians 4:6-7). All that I’m saying here is that we shouldn’t use this privilege to replace vital spiritual matters like evangelism and soul-winning.
People are going to hell but don’t know because very few people live witnessing Christ effectively. If you have eternal life as a child of God, live like you have Christ in you. We need more people to arise and shine the light of Jesus in this world that lies in wickedness (1 John 5:19). By so doing, Christianity won’t become theoretical or only about appearing well-dressed in church on Sundays but about the firebrand lifestyle of faith in Jesus.
Remember that eternal life is in Christ alone. Help people get saved so that they’ll also receive the Spirit of Christ in them to have access to eternal life. Don’t just evangelize unto people; live as you ought to live in Christ while praying for souls.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in Jesus’ name, thank you for placing eternal life in your Son alone. As we continue to turn many unto righteousness through preaching, help us live in the consciousness of who we are in You alone. Amen.
