[14] “And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:14 NIV
At the time of this writing, I’m 24, meaning I’m not so well stricken in years on this Earth. But I didn’t come from a nice family background, so I started work much earlier as a teenager. In my few years of work, I have seen hardworking and lazy people. While I generally like how impressive people who work hard are, it fascinates me when I see lazy people fill offices and do nothing, yet they expect to get paid at the end of each month. Hmm!!!
You can be lazy in an office and still take your salary at the end of each month. But God is omnipresent, meaning He sees everything you do whether you know it or not. His supervisory system is so good that He doesn’t need anybody to check what each of His children is doing. When you work hard for Him, He sees it and rewards you based on His preferences. And if you’re lazy, you cannot bypass His watchful eyes.
Paul, wanting to help some believers in the Thessalonian church, told them that they should warn those who are idle and disruptive. He knew that some people could be saved but were still lazy. For me, it won’t be surprising if some of such people are in my life. If you have the privilege of having such people in your life, warn them to be up and doing. Hard work never breaks bones. It’s time to be productive.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me keep working hard as I live to fulfil Your purpose for all the days of my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
