Tune Your Mind to Think About Things God Has Said

[28] “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; [29] and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” – Matthew 6:28-29 (NKJV)

One powerful thing the mind can do is to determine what it wants to think about. For example, when you are anxious about something you don’t have, you can choose to refocus your mind on thanking God for what you have. So your mind is very powerful. As a matter of fact, you cannot live beyond how you think.

When Jesus was addressing the issue of worry about clothing, He said, “Consider the lilies of the field …”. What was He teaching? He was saying that whenever the issue of not having much to wear, especially for females (who are more conscious of their body shapes), consider how God clothes the lilies of the field. Those plants don’t even think that God will provide them petals to look shiny, yet God does it. How much more you?

Friend, you’re of more value to God than any other creature He created. He loves you so uniquely that He’s ever willing to provide what you need. But can you tune your mind to meditate on what He has said in His Word? Can you meditate on the vision God has given you for your life as you work towards it?

There’s no need to worry about anything. Be anxious about nothing. Instead, pray about everything. Tune your mind to think about things God has said concerning your life, and see worry as a time-wastage tool employed by the enemy to cause depression. The Lord is your guide.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to redirect my thinking patterns on Your promises instead of my failures and what I’ve not been able to accomplish in this season of my life. In You, I put my hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
